WELCOME - we have a new website in development but meanwhile these pages have been updated and are full of useful information. If you would like to know when the next group meeting will take place, please ring our Secretary Brian Smart on (01823) 272184. If you wish to know more about the functions of the prostate and whether having tests are right for you, please go to 'What Every Man Should Know' in the menu and click on 'The Symptoms'. The diagnosis of any cancer can be a most traumatic experience for anyone. Prostate cancer treatment decisions and the related side effects can also be difficult to cope with for both patients and their families. There can be a feeling of fear and loss of control. The Somerset Association is run by local men who have been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. One of the objectives of the charity is to help patients and families at all stages of their cancer journey. This can be achieved by gaining knowledge from those in the group who have already experienced the traumas, the treatment decisions and set-backs. By passing on their knowledge to others it is hoped this will instil understanding, remove fears and allow patients to regain control of their lives. |
